Aduba rose to prominence in the acting world after appearing in “Translations of Xhosa” at the Olney Theatre Centre for the Arts in 2003. In 2006, she continued on her journey to fame by starring in the role of Amphiarus at the New York Theatre Workshop. She started to work at the La Jolla Playhouse. In 2007, she made her Broadway debut in Helen Edmundson’s adaptation of Coram Boy at Imperial Theatre, playing Toby. She did, however, sing a song called “By My Side” while performing in the original revival cast of “Godspell” at the Circle in the Square Theatre from 2011 to 2012. In 2012, she made her first appearance on television as a nurse on the show “Blue Bloods.” She also landed a part as the mother of the title character in the drama Venice, which was staged at The Public Theatre in New York.

Aduba did not look back on her career and started appearing in the new pole by playing Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren in the Netflix comedy-drama series “Orange Is the New Black” from 2013 to 2019, which was one of her most notable breakout roles.
