Coleman earned first place in both the heavyweight and overall categories in the aforementioned tournament. Coleman also defeated Brian, the trainer.

Following his victory, Coleman competed in NPC championships in 1990. This individual came in third place at this event. He subsequently became more serious about bodybuilding and worked on his physique in order to become a professional bodybuilder. Coleman’s professional career began in 1995 when he won the Canada Pro Cup. He repeated as champion the next year.
