Rakim was born on January 28, 1968, in the Long Island suburb of Wyandanch as William Michael Griffin Jr. He is the nephew of recently deceased American R&B singer and performer Ruth Brown. He was involved in New York’s hip-hop scene when he was only 18 years old.

Rakim began his first live recording in 1985 at Wyandanch High School, where he was known as Kid Wizard. He was introduced to Islam when he was 16, and he later changed his name to Rakim Allah.

Rakim’s Profession & Career

Rakim began his career in 1985 when he met Eric B, Rakim, and Eric B. They collaborated on four studio albums, including Paid in Full (1987), Follow the Leader (1988), Let The Rhythm Hit Them (1990), and Don’t Sweat the Technique (1991). (1992).

Rakim announced the release of his new studio album, “The Seventh Seal,” in 2006, but the album was delayed until 2009. He released The Archive: Live, Lost, and Found in 2008.

After a few delays, The Seventh Seal was finally released on November 17, 2009. Its collection was regarded as a comeback after a ten-year hiatus. The event featured the two singles “Favored Are You,” which was released on July 14, 2009, and “Walk These Streets,” which was released on October 7, 2009. It also featured some well-known hip-hop artists, such as Nottz, J. Wells, Needlz, Jake One, and Nick Wiz. By November 22, 2009, the album had sold 12,000 copies in the United States, according to SoundScan.

Rakim performed Paid in Full at the Blue Note Jazz Club in New York City in 2011 to commemorate the accumulation’s 25th anniversary.

On September 24, 2013, he released “Don’t Call Me,” a collaborative single with DMX. October 20, 2016, it was announced on Twitter that Rakim had reconciled with Eric B. after a 23-year separation.
