Christine, her mother, was an attorney, and Rick, her father, was an attorney as well as a Division III All-American college basketball player at Augustana College. At the age of four, she developed an interest in sports after watching Wimbledon on television, and she piqued her interest further by asking her parents for a white tennis dress that looked exactly like the one owned by Venus Williams, even though they promised to get her one if she started playing tennis.

Madison made her first significant breakthrough in 2015, at 17, when she reached the Australian Open semi-finals. She entered the International de Strasbourg after getting her first international premier semi-finals in her second competition, winning only one back-to-back game.

She earned her maiden WTA championship during the grass court season at Eastbourne International and reached the fourth round of the Australian Open in 2016. Her striking has documented Madison’s playing skills at speeds and groundstrokes equivalent to elite men’s tennis players.
