Who is Keith Raniere? Keith Raniere, who was born on August 26, 1960, is now 60 years old. His birthplace is Brooklyn, New York, and he is a Virgo. Keith’s parents are his father, James Raniere, and his mother, Vera Oschypko. His father was a New York City advertising executive who lived from May 9, 1932, to April 10, 2020. Keith’s mother, who was a ballroom dancing instructor, lived from January 19, 1931, to December 13, 1978.

Keith’s family moved from Brooklyn to Suffern, New York, when he was about 5 years old. His parents divorced when he was about 8 years old. Keith received his ninth-grade education at Suffern High School. He transferred to Rockland Country Day School in Congers, New York, however, and graduated in June 1978.

Keith admitted as an adult that he read Isaac Asimov’s mind control-themed work Second Foundation when he was 12 years old. This work also influenced his work in NXIVM, he says. Later, in 1982, he graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a 2.26 GPA (RPI).

Keith allegedly had a sexual relationship with Gina Melita, according to the Times Union. Gina was only 15 years old at the time, while Keith was 24 years old. They first met in a theater group. Gina introduced Keith to her friend Gina Hutchinson after their relationship ended. Hutchinson was 15 years old at the time as well.

Keith was discovered climbing into Gina’s bedroom window by Hutchinson’s sister, who confronted them. He did, however, tell Gina’s sister, Heidi, that Gina was a “Buddhist goddess destined to be with him.” Hutchinson dropped out of school to pursue their romance. After resuming contact with Keith in August 2002, the young girl began participating in NXIVM/ESP.

Hutchinson, on the other hand, was found dead on October 11, 2002, from a gunshot wound to the head. People discovered her on the grounds of Woodstock’s Karma Triyana Dharmachakra Buddhist monastery. It appears to have been a suicide.

Between 1998 and 2018, Keith’s company gained a following primarily through its personal development seminars, recruiting several celebrities and socialites. However, it was accused of systemic sexual abuse of female members on multiple occasions. Keith and other members of his inner circle were sex abusers. This resulted in their arrests in early 2018. As a result, Keith is portrayed in media reports as a cult leader.

Keith Raniere was then convicted of federal crimes on June 19, 2019. Some of these crimes included child sex trafficking, conspiracy, and conspiracy to commit forced labor. All of these were connected to a secret society within NXIVM. It was known as DOS or The Vow. Keith was sentenced to 120 years in prison on October 27, 2020.

Keith and Toni dated for 8 years after her marriage ended, ending in 1999. CBI was closed down in 1993 as a result of investigations by 20 states.

The following year, he established the “National Health Network.” It was a multi-level vitamin seller that failed in 1999. Toni and Keith then ran a health-products store in the mid-1990s. Keith and Nancy Salzman co-founded Executive Success Programs. Nancy is a registered nurse who has studied hypnosis and neurolinguistic programming. They rebranded “Executive Success Programs” as “NXIVM.”

In 2002, the business partners were able to successfully recruit members of the powerful Bronfman family. The Bronfmans were the heirs to the multibillion-dollar Seagram fortune. Sara and Clare Bronfman, as well as their father, Edgar Bronfman Sr., were all involved.

Arrest and Charges

On June 5, 2017, Frank Parlato revealed the existence of a secret sorority called DOS. He went on to say that the women dubbed “slaves” were branded with Raniere’s initials using a hot cauterizing pen. The New York Times then published a story about it on October 18, 2017, also reporting that when joining, slaves were required to provide nude photos or other potentially damaging information about themselves. Following the publication of these articles, Keith fled to Mexico. Keith was joined by a few members of his inner circle.

On January 18, 2018, the authorities issued a search warrant for his email account. Later, on 14 February 2018, an FBI agent filed a criminal complaint and an arrest warrant in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. The felon was then apprehended by Mexican Federal Police in a luxury villa outside of Puerto Vallarta in March 2018.

When the cops arrived, they disrupted a planned group sex session, according to Lauren Salzman. After appearing in federal court in Fort Worth, Texas, Mexican authorities transferred Keith’s custody to New York authorities.

Conviction and Trial

On May 7, 2019, his federal trial began. While the prosecution called witnesses such as Lauren Salzman, NXIVM film-maker Mark Vicente, victims “Sylvia,” “Daniela,” and “Nicole,” and cult educator Rick Alan Ross, the defense did not.

The jury then found him guilty on all charges on June 19, 2019. After 5 hours of deliberation, the jury reached this conclusion. The court charged him with sexual exploitation of a child and possession of child pornography, as well as sex trafficking, identity theft, labor and service trafficking, forced labor, conspiracy to alter records for use in an official proceeding, and other conspiracies such as racketeering and wire fraud.

Federal Judge Nicholas Garaufis recently sentenced him to 120 years in prison on October 27, 2020. He was also fined $1.75 million by the judge. In January 2021, he began serving his 120-year sentence at the United States Penitentiary in Lewisburg. In Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, there is a maximum-security prison.
