In July 2009, Jerwin made his professional debut. As a result, he won his first major championship, the WBO Asia Pacific Youth junior-bantamweight title, in a fight against Rex Tito at SM City Lipa. In his 15th professional fight, he was defeated by Mark Anthony Geraldo through a majority decision.

On September 3, 2016, he fought McJoe Arroyo to become the IBF junior bantamweight title. On January 29, 2017, Jerwin made his first defense, defeating José Alfredo Rodrguez by technical knockout. On November 18, 2017, he fought Jamie Conlan with a 6 TKO.

It was revealed in December that this fighter had signed with Top Rank and will make his U.S. debut in February 2018. Finally, on 3 February 2018, he would make his US debut and successfully defend his IBF championship. Similarly, he fought IBF #1 rated championship opponent Jonas Sultan in his next title defense. He did, however, easily win the bout.

On September 29, 2018, he faced IBF #14, Alejandro Santiago Barrios. In his next bout, he faced #1 IBF contender Ryuichi Funai. In round seven, he knocked out his opponent. On December 7, 2019, this boxer successfully defended his championship for the second time.

This time, he’ll go up against IBF #14 Miguel Gonzalez. As a result, he won by TKO in the sixth round. He was expected to defend his IBF championship against Jonathan Javier Rodriguez on April 10, 2021. This fighter, on the other hand, won the battle by unanimous decision.
