Georges Saint Pierre was born in Saint-Isidore, Monteregie, Quebec, Canada on May 19, 1981. He is currently 40 years old and a Canadian citizen. Furthermore, he was born under the sign of Taurus and is French-Canadian. Rush, GSP, is his nickname, and he is a Christian.

In terms of his parents, he is the son of Roland Saint Pierre (father) and Myriam Saint Pierre (mother) (mother). His father worked as a deck and floor covering carpenter while his mother worked in a nursing home. Similarly, he is the eldest and only son of his parents. Georges became a professional mixed martial artist at the age of 21. At the time, he had already earned his black belt in Kyokushin Karate. On January 25, 2002, at UCC 7: Bad Boyz, he faced Salvadoran-Canadian fighter Ivan Menjivar in his first professional mixed martial arts match.

He fought for the UCC Welterweight Championship against defending champion Justin Bruckmann at UCC 10: Battles. On October 11, 2002, he submitted his opponent title to Travis Galbraith in the first round of UCC 11: The Next Level. On November 29, 2003, he fought and defeated Pete Spratt at the TKO 14: Road Warriors event.

He made his UFC debut on January 31, 2004, against Karo Parisyan at UFC 46, winning by unanimous decision. In his next fight, he faced Jay Hieron at UFC 48. After dominating his opponent from the start, he won the first round by technical knockout. He faced his first major opponent in his third UFC fight. Matt Hughes was already a well-known figure in the sport when George was rising through the ranks. They fought for the vacant UFC Welterweight Championship at UFC 50 on October 22, 2004.

Matt caught his opponent in an armbar and tapped him with only 10 seconds left in the first round, despite holding his own against a much more experienced opponent for the majority of the fight. He admitted later that losing to Matt was the best thing that could have happened to him at the time. Two years later, at UFC 65, he would face Matt again, and this time he would prevail.

Capturing the UFC Welterweight Championship

He defeated Hughes by technical knockout in the second round to win the UFC Welterweight Championship. He was defeated for the second time in his career in his tenth UFC fight. Georges was defeated by technical knockout in the first round against a relatively unknown Matt Serra, effectively losing his welterweight title.

Prior to facing Matt at UFC 83, he defeated Josh Koscheck by unanimous decision at UFC 74 and Hughes by verbal submission in their third fight at UFC 79. Matt was knocked out in the second round, losing the fight and the welterweight title. He faced Jon Fitch in his first title defense after reclaiming it. After the match went the distance, he was declared the winner by unanimous decision. The match was also renamed “The Fight of the Night.”

Between 2010 and 2013, he defeated Dan Hardy, Josh Koscheck, Jake Shields, Nick Diaz, and Johny Hendricks. On December 13, 2013, he voluntarily vacated the title after defeating Johny in a split decision and made the news public. He also informed the media that he would be taking a break from the sport. He eventually defeated Michael Bisping at UFC 217 to reclaim the UFC Middleweight Championship. Furthermore, he resigned after 34 days because he had ulcerative colitis and didn’t want to slow down the division.

He made his acting debut as a character named after himself in the 2009 action thriller film ‘Never Surrender.’ He also appeared in Hector Echavarria’s action film ‘Hell’s Chain’ that year, and he co-starred in the action drama ‘Death Warrior with fellow MMA star Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson.

In the 2014 superhero film ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier,’ he made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Georges Batroc / The Leaper, a character dubbed “John Claude Van Damme of the 1960s” by writer Mark Waid. Van Damme and Georges have been friends for a long time and worked together on the 2016 martial arts film ‘Kickboxer: Vengeance.’ In 2017, he co-starred with Steven Seagal in the action crime film ‘Cartels.’
