Frank Dux served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve from 1975 until 1981. He claimed to have gone on secret missions in Southeast Asia. Frank Dux stated that his outstanding work earned him the Medal of Honour.

As an author, Frank Dux contributed articles to the September and October issues of Black Magazine, including martial arts techniques.
