In 1925, he enrolled at Dartmouth College, where he adopted the moniker Dr. Seuss. While at Dartmouth, he was caught drinking Gin with his nine friends, which was illegal at the time. As a result, the Dean insisted on keeping him away from all college activities. W. Benfield Pressey, one of his Rhetoric professors, encouraged him to write.
