From 1956 through 1971, Charles Peter Wagner served as a missionary in Bolivia for the South American Mission and the Andes Evangelical Mission, which is now SIM International. From 1971 until his retirement in 2001, he was Professor of Church Growth at Fuller Theological Seminary’s Schol of World Missions. He also wrote 80 books and served as the founding president of Global Harvest Ministries from 1993 to 2011.

He was also the founder and emeritus chancellor of the Wagner Leadership Institute, which is today known as Wagner University.
