On July 3, 2012, at the age of 86, the iconic actor died of a heart attack at his beachside home in Manteo, Roanoke Island, Dare County, North Carolina. He was buried in the Griffith family cemetery on the island within five hours of his death.

Similarly, after graduating, he worked as a music and theater teacher at Goldsboro High School for three years. Later, he became a monologist, and his 1953 monologue ‘What It Was, Was Football’ was a big success.

Following his debut on ‘Make Room for Daddy,’ he was offered a slot on ‘The Andy Griffith Show,’ which he accepted. After a tremendously successful tenure, he quit ‘The Andy Griffith Show’ in 1968 to pursue a career in cinema.
